Promoting Excellence In Psychological Health & Wellbeing

Warm welcome and Spring update from Alice Plummer

31 Mar

A very warm welcome to this Spring Edition of the PPN South East newsletter, with perhaps more hope in the air with nature bursting into song and bloom, and the restrictions beginning to ease? Well, that is one side of the coin.  The other… I appreciate that in mental health and psychological wellbeing we have a lot of work on our hands as the adverse impact of the pandemic, of social restrictions and the economic climate continues to unfold.

To all of our new members, welcome to our regional psychological professions network and community of practice.  We are busy working on various workstreams that will be unfolding over the year, including

  • widening participation into the 6 HEE-funded psychological professions roles, and a foundation programme for PWP training. Our brilliant senior assistant psychologists, Amy Pound and Brad Powell, have provided us with project updates in their blogs, and we would like to thank everyone who participated in our regional workforce surveys earlier this year!
  • We are currently working on video content for our career map, which will be gradually unveiled over the course of this year, and reviewing the career map so it speaks to as wide and diverse an audience as possible.
  • We are also working on an animation to promote evidence-based practice. Please watch this space!

What you will also see more of, is what has come to be known as ‘the intergalactic bridge’.  As you know, the first ever National Vision for the Psychological Professions was unveiled at the national conference week last November.  This was co-created through our professional movement Psychological Professions Into Action.  If you missed the conference, the materials continue to be available here

Our mission is now to promote the Vision widely so it becomes embedded across all systems.  Again, you will see this work unfolding in forthcoming months.  Meanwhile, we invite you to share how your work aligns to the vision and commitments through social media @se_ppn #PsychologicalProfessionalsIntoAction

We would also love to showcase your work that puts the vision into action.  Please get in touch or submit any blogs for our website at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Last not least, we welcome Bill Tiplady from Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust to the PPN Team, as co-chair alongside Adrian Whittington.
